Welcome to the 2010 Special Awards! This year's will be our fourth annual, and we hope to keep the tradition alive over the years to come. First off, we'd like to thank all the members who have stuck around this site since the very beginning (or close enough to it). You are the backbone of this forum. But of course, the new members - however few and far between they are - are also keeping W;TFC alive. We hope to have an equal amount of both new and old members nominated in all categories, because we all know that even those of you who have only been around for a month or two are very fun and talented, and well deserving of some recognition in this community.
With that said, let's go over what the Special Awards actually are.

Here's the Deal
This is our fourth time having the Special Awards, so we expect a good amount of you to know how it all goes down. But there are some new members who may be a little confused as to what exactly is going on with all this "Awards" nonsense. So let me break it down for you.
The W;TFC Special Awards are a non-televised and non-formal awards ceremony dedicated to the members of this website, new and senior, young and old. MapleStar and the mods that help her every day get praise (mostly among themselves, haha) for just doing their jobs and keeping this site alive and well. But when do the members ever get appreciated? That's what these awards are for! The Special Awards were created to recognize the members for who they are and what they're great at so they can have their time to shine. Because it's not just the mods that keep this forum running.
There will be no cars or cash prizes. No shining gift behind door number two. The prize for winning any of the categories in the Special Awards is pride, the knowledge of a job well done, and having everyone recognize and appreciate you for the great person that you are. And bragging rights, of course! Basically, what happens in the Special Awards is the members nominate the people they believe best fit the category, and when the time comes, they vote. Whoever wins gets a shiny little graphic to display in their signature (or really wherever they please) and the right to say, "Hey, everyone. I won. I'm actually pretty awesome." Without letting your ego inflate too much, of course. (You'll also get a special mention in the next W;TFC Yearbook!)
It is all fun and games, really. We don't want this being taken too seriously, and no feelings should be hurt in the process. Meaning don't be put down too much if you don't get nominated or if you don't win. It doesn't mean you're a bad person, or that you're not active or a good roleplayer. It simply means that next time around, you'll have to try harder to show everyone that you are. (Trust me, though, we all know already.)

Know the RopesObviously, we're going to have to set some ground rules. There is no competition without rules, or else everything would get out of hand and people would be at each other's throats and the world would probably implode or something. (Not really, though. I just want to make it sound important.) So let's cover those before we go any further.
. What this means is that the same person can only nominate one roleplayer for each category. For example, if the category is Best Poet and I think both IceHeart and SunFur should be nominated, I'm going to have to pick one of them and hope the other one gets nominated by someone else, because I am only allowed one nomination per category. 2. Nominate/vote for who you think best deserves it. Peer pressure exists both outside and inside of this little world we have going on here. But like in the real world, we ask you to please ignore the negative peer pressure and appreciate the positive. Take the time to think your nominations through before you make them. Don't just nominate someone because they told you to! And vote based on your thoughts and not someone else's. That's not to say you can't agree with someone. But don't let someone else change your opinion just because they are a friend of yours. 3. Don't nominate yourself. This one should be self-explanatory. It's a little selfish, and kind of silly. If you deserve the nomination, you will get it. But nominating yourself for a category may get you disqualified from that particular category. 4. Write the full name and clan of the member you are nominating. There may be two SpottedPaws or more than one SilverKit. So when nominating, use the full warrior name of the member (no matter how much you want to call NightStar "Gleams") and the clan they are in. 5. Only five nominees per category. And it's first come, first serve. The first five people nominated will be the only five people nominated, unless we get a flood of PMs begging us to add just one more person to the list (and it has to be a lot of people wanting the same person added, not 10,000 members wanting a different sixth person added). Five is just an easy number to work with. Not too big and not too small. 6. Please don't try to nominate in closed categories. A "closed category" pretty much means that either all five spots are filled, or that there is no member that could be nominated other than the people already on the list. An example of one of these categories is the Top Leader category. Obviously, there are already five leaders to fill in the spots, and only five leaders. So don't make yourself look silly by trying to add another! 7. Have fun! This is all about you, the members! Remember to enjoy the Special Awards while they last and to spread the love, because everyone deserves a little attention every once in a while, and this is the mods' way of giving back to the members.[/ul][/blockquote]
