I'm not all that knowledgeable about what you can do with forums, but isn't there be a certain function (I don't know if that's the right word) that emails someone automatically if they've been away from a site for a certain amount of days?

I've seen that somewhere, but I don't remember where...

If that's possible, couldn't that be implemented on this site?

This sounds like the most useful tool I have ever heard of in my entire life. Unfortunately, I am not Maplestar, nor am I talking to her right now, so I don't really have the right to implement it.
