I don't remember if I've already gone over this, I might have, but I figured it was a good idea to make a thread with the title addressing this matter since it appears to be such a controversial one.
Right off the bat, let me say I have absolutely nothing against gays.
Now, continuing on. Yes, the bible does say homosexuality is a sin, I'll give you a few references, but before you get all ruffled up, read what I say AFTER these references, they're all in the Contemporary English Version:
Now those verses are rather harsh. But, there are verses that are just as harsh for other sins such as lying and hating and such, and those verses are much greater in number and that's why I'm not posting them here, but instead I put links to a couple of pages about those two (click on "lying" or "hating" as mentioned above).
Homosexuality is just as much of a sin as lying, hating, stealing, cheating, and being adulterous is. And the bible says that no one is perfect (Romans 3:23), we're ALL sinners. If you have ever lied, disobeyed your parents, cursed, denied God's existence, lusted, been envious, greedy, been a glutton, hated someone, stole, cheated, lied, the list goes on, then [sarcasm]big newsflash[/sarcasm], you're a sinner.
So if homosexuals are banned from a church, then shouldn't that church ban ALL sinners from being a part of it. And if that church were to ban all sinners from it, who would attend the services? Who would preach? Who would lead worship? It'd be completely empty!
My point is that although the bible says that being a homosexual is a sin and is not okay, that doesn't mean that someone who is a homosexual can't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. They just have to believe and submit like every other sinner on the planet.

It is disgusting for a man to have sex with another man.
--Leviticus 18:22
It's disgusting for men to have sex with one another, and those who do will be put to death, just as they deserve.
--Leviticus 20:13
9Don't you know that evil people won't have a share in the blessings of God's kingdom? Don't fool yourselves! No one who is immoral or worships idols or is unfaithful in marriage or is a pervert or behaves like a homosexual 10will share in God's kingdom.
--1 Corinthians 6:9-10
26God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural. 27Men behaved in the same way. They stopped having sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.
28Since these people refused even to think about God, he let their useless minds rule over them. That's why they do all sort of indecent things. [referring to others mentioned earlier in the passage, not just homosexuals]
--Romans 1:26-28
