Nothing actually said Sandstorm wasn't pregnant before Firestar became leader! She could've been pregnant a moon before he became leader! That wouldn't be too hard to believe now would it!

You guys are both incorrect. Bluestar couldn't keep her kits because she wanted to be deputy to save her Clan from another cat who wanted to be deputy and was sorta evil. A female Leader CAN have kits anytime she wants, it's just her deputy would have to take over a little and as the kits got older, she could leave them with the other Queens more frequently (like Squirrelflight did with Hollypaw, Lionpaw, & Jaypaw a lot.) The warrior code only says that Medicine-cats can't have mates or kits, it doesn't say anything else about other cats and their mates. In Firestar's Quest it specifically says that Leafkit and Squirrelkit were born after the Quest and therefore after he was Leader.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's against the warrior code for a she-cat of any upper rank to have kits. Even as a deputy, she would be demoted.

Time; Hollypaw, Jaypaw and Lionpaw arent realy Squirrelflight's kits. They're her sister's. Her sister gave them up. Jaypaw is blind as a punishment for having a medicin cat as a mother. Squirrelfight even admits that she's not the mother in the...eather 4th 5th or 6th books of The Power of Three. Read them. She could leave the den becuase she didn't realy have them, she raised them. big diffrence. ANd Mopurning star's right. It's against the code for female deputys or Leaders to have kits. They'd be forced to step doen from their title.

But Squirrelflight acted as a mother for so many moons that she was, for all intents and purposes, the three's mother. Adoptive mothers act very much the same as biological mothers, so whether or not she actually gave birth to Lionpaw, Hollypaw and Jaypaw is not the question. I don't remember it ever saying in the book that Jaypaw's blindness was a punishment... Why would he be punished for something out of his control?

Technacly is was Leafpools punishment cause she had to see her birth son unable to become a warrior becaus ehe was totaly disabled in a fight. And just cause the book didn't say it doesn't mean anything. They are the three and Squirrelflight didn't have them, then Leafpool had to have had them, then Jayfeather's blindeness is the punishment.

Hmm. So that's to say that every blind kit that's born is blind solely to punish the mother for some sort of sin? I have trouble agreeing with you. Some cats are just born blind, and I believe that if Jaypaw was written with impaired vision for any other reason but coincidence, it would have been mentioned in the books.

I'm not saying that every kit that's born blind is born to punish the mother. But Jaypaw was the first cat born blind in Thunderclan and His mother was a medicin cat. You see the connection?

Besides blindness, what about other disabilities, such as deafness? Remember Snowkit? Not only was she born deaf, but she was carried off by a hawk. Does that mean Speckletail do something terribly wrong in her lifetime, something much worse than Leafpool and Crowfeather? After all, although Jayfeather is blind, he still survived, and much more than that. He "holds the power of the stars in his paws" ((Sorry for the unoriginality)) while Snowkit was a single kitten litter (which made his loss even harder for Speckletail), and was violently killed by a bird of prey...
I really don't intend to join in on this argument, just a neutral comment. Speckletail very well could've done something wrong... so please no hard feelings. XP

OK! number one: My first post said that I was talking to a guest called time. Seeing as I started it with " Time; " as if i was answering someone. and number two: Remember. Speckle was old. It could have just been her weakness and age that caused the disability by not allowing the kit to finish growing or she could have gotten thwacked nt he belly causing it. I almost lost my hearing before I was born because of something similar to that. But that's not the point. ok. Read the next 2 sentances over and over. Jay, Holly, and Lion are supposed to be the three. IF they are the three then hey HAVE to be Leafpools, cause they arent Squirrelflights. Therefore in this ONE case Jaypaw's blindness is the punishment. But, once agian, The punishment is not the point. The wole point to my first coment was to say that Squirrel could leave because she didn't realy give birth, SO a female deputy or leader couldn't leave the nercery if they had kits and would not be able to lead, therefore being demoted.

Haha, good point. Snowkit was Speckle's last litter.
?You lost me when you were saying that Squirrel could leave. Leave? I got the part after that when you said that leaders/deputies had to stay in the nursery...

Squirrel could leave the nercery. She was always gone from the nercery, doing warriors dutys. anyone that HAD acctualy given birth would not be able ot leave their kits like that because of weakness.

Justa nuetral comment about Speckletail and Snowkit. What I think the author was trying to show with the loss of Snowkit was that things do happen in the wild and that it's survival of fitest. Snowkit had a dissability and Speckletail tried to hide that, but in the end it doesn't really work out that way. *Morning*

Yeah, that's true. Along with Speckle's ''oldness''. Snowkit just came to my mind when you were talking about disabilities.
